According to the ACFE’s Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse, small business entities (fewer than 100 employees) suffer losses as large as our nation’s large businesses, on average $150,000! And our nation’s CFE’s estimate that the typical organization loses 5% of their revenues a year due to fraud.

Though small businesses are most susceptible to fraud, they also have the most to lose, as they often have limited resources to absorb the losses. They also have the least internal controls implemented – controls that are shown to both lower fraud losses and provide quicker detection of fraud.
